Linking Strategy

Incoming links.

Outgoing links.

Reciprocal links.

Three way links.

What's the best linking strategy?

Reciprocal links aren't as effective as one-way links for search engine marketing, but they DO have an impact on your traffic - especially in search engines like MSN, Yahoo and Ask. I continue to do it, and it continues to work.

The real power of SEO is in one way incoming links from other sites. Not reciprocal linking. It's very simple. If a lot of sites link to you, without you linking back, your site must be good.

How do you get the best links?

Hopefully, if you've done a good job with great content, other sites will link to you.

Do you wait for other sites to find you?

I'm not that patient and I don't follow the crowd.

Thinking about purchasing links?

Don't do it. It's just not worth it. I don't care how they are disguised.

So what do you do if you want good inbound links now?

There are many ways.

Here are the main 3:

  • Article writing with a bio box (go sign up for our Article Writing e-course).
  • Forum participation with signature files.
  • Creative thinking (ie: offer an affiliate program, eBay auctions with a link back to your site, brandable eBooks and software etc.)

Now this is very important.

Content + linking = Search engine indexed pages.

Great content + great inbound links = Search engine indexed movement.

It's not enough just to get indexed. You don't want to be on page 125 in the search engine list of sites.

You want to be on page one or two and at the top for lots of visitors to find you.

So you need great content and great inbound links.

We know what an inbound link is. What's a great inbound link?

A great inbound link is a link from a high ranking site to a specific page on your site with in context keyword focused links.

Here's a normal everyday link that's not too powerful. "For a great look at SEO click here" and then when you click the word here, to arrive at a site. What's the site address? (www.site.com) That's not powerful.

This is a little more powerful. "For a great look at SEO, go to http://www.fyipromo.com/index.html That's not a whole lot better is it?

Here's a very powerful link to your site. "Want to see how to use different linking strategies to get better search engine optimization? FYI Promo can show you the best linking strategies. Just click on fyipromo linking strategy to get some of the best linking strategies."

Now look at where you end up when you click on that link.

Surprise... surprise. The keyword phrase linking strategies ends up taking you to the page http://www.fyipromo.com/linking-strategy.html

That's powerful! That's the best kind of link! Numeral uno! The big cheese... the best incoming link from another site.

Now let that site be about Internet marketing and you've got a powerful link on steroids. Let that site have a page rank of 3-5 and stand back. Do that with 30-50 sites and you'll get a tsunami of traffic.

Until next time...
